[The whirlwind that is Eren isn't a surprise. Specific words, certain phrases - all cause reactions. Akechi tries to find each and every one to carve into his skull because it means adventure, attention, and a grip wound tight around his fingers.]
Wait -
[With a quick motion, his free hand dives into his shirt to pull out-
A dishtowel! Not stolen from his current home, but taken from his last life - a towel his mom would wipe her hands on, wipe his hair with. He tucks it into the back of Eren's shirt to mimic a cape.]
If you're not dressed like a hero, it'll get scared. But now you look like one so it's okay.
[At first, Eren feels impatient. He stops, wrinkling his nose, about to protest when Akechi stuffs the dish towel under the collar of his sleep shirt. It feels a little childish even for him (part of wanting to grow up too fast, maybe), but he turns to Akechi anyway, balling up his little fists and bouncing on his heels.]
[Eren follows in a rush, reaching after Akechi to try grabbing at his sleeve. He's not usually the one yelling, "Wait up." He whispers it now, urgent.]
[He clutches tight - interlaced fingers doomed to be in his grip forever now. You fucked up Eren.]
Your hero power is you can read minds. You read mine sometimes. I thought you knew.
[Guess not. That's too bad, but it doesn't matter because off Akechi goes again. Where? Directly to, what looks to be, an abandoned house. Not problematic at all. Not Akechi's old one either. It's just a random dilapidated, damaged little house he points towards.]
What do you know! There's a broken window that was definitely there when Akechi found the place and absolutely wasn't caused by a sudden stroke of deviancy in his heart. The glass has been brushed away - a clear sign of someone coming and going.]
[Eren doesn't question the broken window a jot, nor does he fear the broken glass. He lets Akechi boost him up and crawls through the window, slicing his hands as he goes. It's a bit of a stumble into the room proper.]
[Akechi goes second - jumping up and pulling his body through with some amount of effort. He's done this a few times and only gets a tiny bit cut from it.
And LO and fucking BEHOLD Eren - in the center of the room is a structure made from old sheets, broken, discarded furniture and ratty blankets.
[Akechi kisses Eren's hand, and Eren erupts with wicked, boyish giggles. He flops down next to Akechi, stretching his hands up toward the ceiling of blankets.]
My mom used to fix everything that way too, but I told her to stop.

Just like a Scout, right?

[Too loud - he clasps a hand over his own mouth. Listens. Waits. No footsteps or telltale sign of being caught in the act of stealing their son.
Then another erratic whisper, excited and uncontrolled, as he starts to unlock the front door.]
We'll have matching capes and we can be heroes together. If we practice now, we'll be able to save everyone here when we're older.
[Which is why he has to show you this cool thing - he's already out the DOOR.]

You have to go faster.

But you're the one who knows where to go.

We're going there.

[Eren shows absolutely no hesitation at the dilapidated house, however. This is clearly a fantastic idea.
[He creeps as they get closer. He's pretty bad at it.]

I'll boost you up.

What's the big deal about this place?

And LO and fucking BEHOLD Eren - in the center of the room is a structure made from old sheets, broken, discarded furniture and ratty blankets.
It's a goddamn secret fort.]
It's a secret hideout.

How'd you find this!?
[Brb. Crawling into the fort.]
Did you make it, Akechi?
no subject
[Who the fuck is that? Don't ask. Imaginary friends are important to budding patricidal maniacs.
He crawls in after Eren - content and happy in his little enclosure.]
But I helped him and now it's our secret fort.

[Listen, his besties are life. All his homies love his besties, Robin Hood being among them.
Inside the little area, he scoots over to grab at Eren's palms.]
Did you get hurt?
no subject
Just a little. [He wipes his hands off on his pants. Fixed.]

Akechi leans down to kiss the back of Eren's cut hand, before rolling onto his back to stare up at withered, torn blankets.]
Mom fixed everything that way. It should feel better soon.
