[This is as far as she gets before the wolf snaps. Aubrey’s already started to back away, hands out in surrender, so it’s not hard for Eren to nick the blade; and he gets her palm while he’s at it, a clean slice down the side. She drops the sword instantly, yelping.]
Ow! Hey, what was that for?
[Further down the maze, out of human earshot but perfectly audible to a wolf: Aubrey, also, hissing. “What the hell…?!”]
[Eren snatches the sword from off the ground, holding the hilt firmly in his teeth. He won't be able to howl like this, but he can hear his Aubrey hissing somewhere nearby in the maze. The cut on this Aubrey's hand means nothing to him. He turns and runs in the direction where he heard the pained hiss.]
[You know, as if this day couldn’t get any worse, apparently now she can just get hurt out of nowhere. Eren will find the Aubrey he’s looking for holding the wound closed tight, blood dripping down her arm; it’s not deep, but more than enough to be annoying.]
Geez, there you are. [Blonde jumpscare, by the way; this one also looks a bit younger than the usual Aubrey, but the ever-pissed expression is nothing new. Still, there’s a flash of relief when Eren shows up, sword in tow.]
Be careful. There’s invisible crap here, too, apparently.
[The other Aubrey, for the record, does not follow. The angry wolf grabbing her sword is unfortunate, and she really could’ve sworn she knew him, but… oh well! The sting of getting sniped by a friend with zero hesitation is for later-Aubrey to mull over.]
[This doesn't look like the right Aubrey either. The fact that she's expecting him is the only thing that stops him from running off in another direction; instead, he drops the sword at her feet, nudging it toward her.
[The hand catches his attention. His ears go back, low. He nudges at her hand with his nose, a small whine escaping him. What happened?]
[It probably would’ve helped if Aubrey mentioned that she looks different now, too, but frankly she’s barely noticed. Too busy yelling at herself and being irate about everything, as one does.]
[But she does soften a bit, again, when wolf-Eren nudges at her hand.]
This just happened. [She wipes at it with her sleeve. Should scab up before too long....] Hell if I know why; I didn’t feel anything moving in here or anything.
[One thing about this wolf form of his: Eren is not adept at hiding his emotions as a human, let alone as something that runs entirely on instinct. His tail goes between his legs a bit. He knows why it happened...
[Nudging the sword toward her again, he gives a commanding bark. It really is annoying having to communicate like this; harder when you don't have teammates who seem to read your mind. He doesn't have his gear with him, but if he has to, he'll just change back once again...It isn't as exhausting as using his titan.
[Holding up a paw as if to say, "Wait," he runs a few feet ahead of her and transforms back into a human (mercifully fully-clothed, somehow).
[He turns to face her, shaking his head a bit like he's trying to clear it.]
That's my fault. Sorry.
I saw your clone. When I tried to get the sword back from her, I cut her hand.
[She doesn’t notice the tail between his legs, but at the bark Aubrey does look up and take her sword back. (From, well, herself. Whatever. Stupid maze and its stupid mind games.) Upon the transformation, she glances aside for a bit as if to afford privacy he apparently doesn’t need. He’s kinda cute as a wolf, but like hell if she’ll be saying that.]
[At Eren’s admission, Aubrey’s frown deepens for a moment. Then she scoffs.] Eh. Serves her right. You got this back and that’s what matters.
[Unceremoniously she wipes the remaining blood off on her pants, then slings the sword over her shoulder—not at all unlike other-Aubrey did. With more attitude in her posture, but still.]
[She clears her throat, glancing aside for the mumbled counter-admission:] …Thanks.

[Ha ha ha, silly Jaeger. Training improvement is one thing; an actual life-or-death scenario is another! But it’s fine. They probably won’t encounter that so soon. Unless?]
Yeah, I can handle it.
[With that, time to keep trekking through this maze. Hell if Aubrey knows where or if the exit is, but it’s good to have her sword back. (Wolf-boy, too, although she will not be admitting this, either.) Feels vaguely like progress if she keeps moving, anyway.]
Man. You got such a cool potion. Wish I could turn into a wolf. [But with her luck it’d probably be a bunny or something else dumb and helpless.]
[She’ll let him be smug about that, surprisingly enough. He’s earned the right—insofar as any of these potion-powers are really “earned.”
[On which note, time to be sour about hers.] Ugh. I would if I could. [It’s scabbed over the normal way by now. Probably gonna leave a mark for the next few days… Sunny’s power didn’t leave a trace. She scowls.] Maybe I just haven’t figured it out yet.
[She is once again reminded that this 15-year-old has (had?) the fate of humanity on his shoulders.]
[Then he’s kissing her ass so she’s not gonna dwell on it.]
Heh, really? [A side-glanceover, as if to look for the mark.] Usually you’re the one bruising me up. You just saying that?
[Eren snorts, pausing the walk to lift his hoodie and the shirt underneath up, revealing a nasty purple bruise right on the ribcage. He doesn't seem to mind it though.]
[This is not a game they should be playing while Aubrey’s holding a sharp object. She at least manages to drop it as Eren’s counter-elbow shoves her towards the nearest wall; thankfully not far, as the maze is a tad claustrophobic at this juncture.
[It also lets her make a quick recovery. If one other thing has been improving, it’s her reflexes; donning a smirk, she tries to jab him in the arm. Who needs a weapon when fists will do?]
[The jab is received, half because Eren doesn't actually think she'll follow through with it. His fists go up on reflex, but he refrains from actually hitting her when he remembers that she is not, in fact, one of his comrades from back home; instead, a civilian who barely knows how to hold a sword. He wonders how well she can take a punch.]
Are you sure you wanna do this right now? [He doesn't sound upset; in fact, wears a cocky, self-assured smirk as he plants his feet in a fighting stance.]

Now you've got protection if something decides to pop out of one of these bushes. You can handle it yourself, right?
I don't have my gear, so if we run into anything, I'm changing back.

Yeah. I guess it is pretty cool. [Said not without some smugness.]
You could always ask the crystal for a similar ability. You'd probably get one.
But hey. With that healing power, can't you patch up that cut on your hand?

[She’ll let him be smug about that, surprisingly enough. He’s earned the right—insofar as any of these potion-powers are really “earned.”

Dunno why I couldn’t get something more useful.

1/2
2/2
That normal for your world? Or like, you?
no subject
It's part of my titan shifting ability - so, no, not exactly normal. Still. I got pretty used to it is all.
When you hit me during training the other day, you actually managed to leave a bruise. I'm more marked up than I've ever been.

Proof you actually managed to land one.
no subject
[It’s ass-kissing if she doesn’t know how to take a compliment—]
[Aubrey’s eyes go wide at the bruise reveal.] Holy shit. I did that? [She kinda feels like she should apologize, but! That’s proof all right!]
Damn. Guess I’ll have to go easier on you. [Just gonna play smug, unwarranted as it may be.]
no subject
I've taken a lot worse than a dull sword to the ribs. You'll have to try harder than that if you wanna do some real damage.
no subject
[Smug moment over.] Sheesh, alright, alright. I get it.
[Grumbling, but not inaudibly,] You’d think you want me to hurt you.
no subject
It shows you're learning. I wouldn't want you to hold back. That's the kind of shit that'll end up getting you killed in real combat.
I can take it.
no subject
Alright, if you say so.
[With no warning, she elbows him harder than strictly necessary.]
